Level 3 Evacuation Order for Big Meadow/Squaw Valley area

North Hwy 57 corridor, including the Nordman area now at Level 2 Alert

This is effective at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29

The Pend Oreille County and Bonner County sheriff departments have issued a Level 3 Evacuation Order at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, for the Big Meadow/Squaw Valley area. Strong winds have led fire managers to make the recommendation.

A Level 3 Evacuation Order means leave immediately to a safe area. Listen to local media and watch for emergency personnel who may be coming by to give further instructions regarding the evacuation.

A Level 2 Evacuation Alert has been issued for the north Hwy 57 corridor, including the Nordman area. This level indicates there is significant danger to your area and residents should either voluntarily relocate to a shelter or with family/friends outside of the affected area, or if choosing to remain, to be ready at a moment’s notice.

This corrects the earlier notice that stated that the south Hwy 57 corridor was elevated to a Level 2 Alert. It remains at a Level 1.

NOTE: All fire perimeters and points are approximations.
